Rafael García del Poyo
Rafael graduated in law from Complutense University of Madrid and holds a postgraduate degree in international commercial law and European Union law from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
Currently, Rafael acts as legal counsel for various national and international clients in technology projects and has participated in the execution of strategic entrepreneurial plans on issues related to telecommunications law, electronic commerce, software licensing, video games, hardware acquisition, outsourcing, cloud computing and personal data protection in various industrial sectors.
As the secretary of the board of directors of various technology companies, Rafael has been involved in the legal defense of a number of cases before the European Union Court of Justice and other European institutions.
He is also a reputed expert in the fintech sector, having advised for the launch of the newest cutting-edge financial products and services into the Spanish market, counselling from large financial entities to thriving startups. In the video game arena he has provided legal advice to the major players, mainly focused on distribution schemes and Intellectual Property counselling. He chairs and participates in a number of professional and industry associations related to digital business, defense and aerospace, arbitration, intellectual property, telecoms and data protection. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association where he is the President of the Section on Aeronautics and Space Law.
