Tomorrow, Friday 5th December, CyberCamp 2014, the first European forum aimed at identifying and promoting talent and innovation in the up and coming IT security industry, will fire the starting gun in Madrid. The Spanish Institute of Cybersecurity, INCIBE, expects over 3500 people to attend a wide range of key note speeches, activities and workshops targeted at families, students, professionals, entrepreneurs and jobseekers.
The event, which will run through to Sunday, 7th December at the Multipurpose Pavillion I in Madrid’s Casa de Campo park, will be inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, at a ceremony at 4.00 pm in the venue’s main auditorium chaired by the journalist, Mara Torres.
CyberCamp 2014 will bring together under one roof some of the leading national and international experts in cybersecurity, including Chema Alonso, CEO of Eleven Paths Joanna Rutkowska, CEO & Founder of Invisible Things Lab, and Fermín J. Serna, a leading Spanish engineer who forms part of Google’ssecurity team . In the area of careers and entrepreneurship, the conferences will be accompanied by online challenges, Training Labs, practical workshops led by the leading experts in each field, the presentation of projects and practices, and a development hackathon focused on cybersecurity.
Total commitment to employment creation
CyberCamp will include a specialist forum bringing together employers and jobseekers at which major enterprises including Accenture, Indra, Telefónica, Deloitte, S21 Sec, S2 grupo, GMV and Symantec will promote as many as 1000 employment opportunities with the aim of hiring specialists in the field of cybersecurity.

Leading recruiters will be present at individual stands distributed in the area of the Employment Forum. During the event they will review candidates’ experience, offer advice for strengthening and developing their experience and provide personal coaching sessions to help them target professions with the greatest employment opportunities in the field of cybersecurity.
Helping families protect young people against online threats
INCIBE will present a special program of free activities at CyberCamp in collaboration with the State Security Forces and the world’s leading experts in cybersecurity, aimed at driving awareness of the safe use of technology and the key risks and dangers faced by internet users.
Highly reputed specialists in the field of cybersecurity, including, Santos González, lecturer at the University of Oviedo and Head of the Algebra, Coding and Cryptography Research Group; Josep Albors, Communications Director at ESET; Ángel Pablo Avilés “Angelucho”, author of “X1RedMasSegura”; César Lorenzana, Captain of the Telematic Crime Unit of the Guardia Civil; and María Ángeles Pérez, Chief psychologist for the Office for Attention to Crime Victims of the Salamanca City Courts. The participants will discuss matters of great relevance such as the prevention of online bullying, awareness of the risks associated with internet use; the use and abuse of the internet; keys to child cryptography; parental control and the safe use of social networks.
Specialist workshops will also be celebrated to promote curiosity among young people and stimulate passion for technology. All the activities will take place in an entertaining atmosphere conducive to the development of creative activities for children such as musical workshops, educational activities with game consoles and the opportunity to program robots via a mobile phone.
