Half a million pacemakers vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Six St Jude Medical pacemaker models endanger the lives of nearly half a million Americans who have them implanted because of different vulnerabilities that may allow an attacker to exhaust the device's battery early, or accelerate the pace of pulsations it emits.

Due to the impossibility of replacing the affected devices because a surgical intervention is necessary, the company has published an update of the device that has to be installed by authorized medical personnel. The US Department of Homeland Security has been responsible for disseminating the warning so that all affected people come to update their device as soon as possible.
