Globalcaja suffers a ransomware attack

The La Mancha financial institution Globalcaja released a statement on its social networks informing about a cyberattack suffered on 2 June. From the first moment they activated the security protocol, which led, as a precautionary measure, to disabling some branch offices and temporarily limiting the performance of some operations.

A few days ago, the Play ransomware group claimed to have attacked Globalcaja and made off with a large amount of confidential data, customer and employee documents, passports and contracts, among other sensitive data.

The institution guarantees that the incident has not affected the institution's transaction service. Therefore, neither accounts nor customer agreements have been compromised. However, it has not confirmed whether the threat actors got hold of the information they claim to have stolen, nor how many people were affected.
