Carmakers update software due to viral challenge

Hyundai and Kia have been forced to develop a free update to their vehicles' anti-theft alarm software logic as a result of a viral TikTok challenge, KIA Challenge, as millions of their vehicles lacked electronic immobilisers.

This flaw, which allows vehicles to be started without a key by using a USB cable to bypass security systems, affects a large proportion of cars manufactured between 2015 and 2019.
