14 million Android devices infected with malware CopyCat

Research team at security company Check Point has discovered a new malware called CopyCat, which has infected 14 million Android devices, gaining administrator privileges in 8 of the 14 million.

The majority of those infected by CopyCat are in Asia, although it has managed to reach 280,000 devices in the United States.

The goal of this malware was to earn revenue through fraudulent clicks on commercials, generating $ 1.5 million in two months.To curb malware progress, Google has updated its Play Protect security application.

Although evidence has been found linking the virus to MobiSummer, a Chinese company dedicated to the world of advertising, it has not been possible to prove that its development is responsible.
