19 million California voters affected by an information leak

A database containing information on the voters of the state of California, in the United States, was compromised and exposed on the Internet. After this incident, the same database was infected by a ransomware which encrypted the data for which a rescue of 0.2 bitcoins was requested. According to investigators from the Kromtech security center, it has not been possible to identify the owner of the database, although it did identify those responsible for the attack, two groups of hackers called Harak1i1 and Own3d. However, they also reported that no information was stolen from the server.
