Agence France-Press suffers ciberattack

Updated on 28/09/2024

Agence France-Presse, France's oldest news agency and one of the largest and oldest in the world, with a presence in more than 150 countries, suffered a cyber-attack on Friday September 27th.

This warning came on September 28th, after intermittent service outages were detected over the weekend and many of its pages appeared to be ‘under maintenance’. After detecting the incident, AFP technicians contacted the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) for support and the relevant French authorities were notified. The agency's international news coverage, however, continued as normal.

At the time of going to press, AFP has not yet disclosed details about the nature of the incident or the possible perpetrators.
