ALMA observatory suffers cyberattack

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) observatory, the world's largest astronomical project located in Chile, suffered a cyberattack that forced it to suspend its activities, according to the organisation's Twitter profile.

The statement clarifies that the cyberattack forced the suspension of astronomical observations and the public website, as well as limiting the use of e-mail services. It also states that the threat has been contained and the centre's IT specialists are working to restore the affected systems.
