AMCA information leak affects multiple medical laboratories

Several test labs have claimed to be victims of a security breach suffered by AMCA (American Medical Collections Agency), a U.S. agency that acts as a debt collector.

The affected companies, Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp and BioReference Laboratories, have reported data leakage from their customers due to unauthorized access. Specifically, there have been 12, 7.7 and 20 million users whose information has been exposed respectively, including financial data, Social Security Number (SSN) and medical information.

Jennifer Kaid, an ACMA spokeswoman, said in a statement that they are investigating the incident through an external forensic company, have migrated their payment web portal services to an external provider and have informed law enforcement of what happened.
