The American electoral system declared critical infrastructure

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson has notified the inclusion of the US electoral system within the critical infrastructure sector. The measure aims to protect cybernetic elements such as polling stations, voting machines or voting registration systems. Electoral infrastructure would become a priority in the National Plan for Infrastructure Protection, while Cybersecurity continued to be key to the Department of Homeland Security. This decision comes after confirmation by the White House of various cyber attacks during the last presidential election.
