Baltimore’s Police emergency response system hacked for 17 hours

Police response system in American city of Baltimore, Maryland, has been compromised by an attack leaving the automated response disconnected.

The attacker identity is unknown, the attack was during the weekend of March 24 and 25. For 17 hours the automated response system was compromised and the calls were to 911 and 311 services was attended to manual mode.

The affected server was isolated and taken offline, the service was restored on Sunday early morning.

Authorities didn’t comment on the nature of the attack or what information might have compromised.
