Cyberattack on Seattle port and airport
Port of Seattle/Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has suffered a cyber attack that began on August 24 and, as of this writing, is still ongoing and has paralyzed activity at both facilities.
SEA posted on their website and X that they were experiencing outages of some services and encouraged users to contact the airlines. However, throughout the morning they kept updating the situation, reporting that they were suffering a cyber-attack and that multiple services were being taken offline to prevent further damage. In the days that followed, the downtime continued as teams tried to recover systems, against the clock, as August 29, 30 and 31, as well as September 1 and 2, are Labor Day holidays and massive passenger movements are expected.
SEA is working with external teams and security forces to investigate what happened and restore the systems. However, there is still no date for the reestablishment of service.
