Data breach at Nedbank

The South African bank, Nedbank, has discovered a security incident related to its customers' data at its external service provider, Computer Facilities, company dedicated to make marketing campaigns on behalf of Nedbank trough SMS and email.

The problem, which has affected to 1.7 million of customers, was detected by Nedbank in one of its routine monitoring procedures. Compromised data contain names, ID numbers, telephone numbers and physical and email addresses, there being no, in any case, neither confidential data nor Nedbank systems affected.

The bank has informed that, after issues, started an investigation, deleted all information in hands of Computer Facilities and disconnected its systems from the Internet until further notice.
