The European Central Bank shuts down compromised BIRD website

The European Central Bank (ECB) reported, through a statement, a security breach produced on the website of its system BIRD (Banks Integrated Reporting Dictionary).

The attackers had breached the security measures of the website, hosted by an external provider and separate from the rest of the infrastructure, to inject malware, and may have obtained email addresses, contact details and other information such as names and titles of the 481 BIRD newsletter subscribers.

The ECB is contacting the persons whose data may have been affected and BIRD website shut down until further notice.
