Exposure of private messages because of an error in the Twitter API

Twitter has reported that it has discovered an error in its account activity API (AAAPI), used by registered developers to create tools that offer better support to companies and their communications with social network customers. This error could have sent private messages or protected tweets to another developer.

The company claims that the error has been present since May 2017 until a few hours after discovering it on September 10, 2018. In addition, it has affected less than 1% of users, so Twitter will specifically inform all those who have been harmed of then order to amend this error.
