Gigaset faces supply chain attack

Gigaset, a company dedicated to telecommunications, has confirmed that a number of its older smartphone models were infected with malware via a compromised server belonging to an external update service providers.

After detecting the incident thanks to some user reports, it was confirmed that the infection was made possible by not having previous software updates installed.

Gigaset prevented further infections after communicating the incident to the service provider and has provided guidelines for testing and removing the malware.
