GitHub victim the biggest attack DDoS registered

On February 28, 2018 GitHub was the victim of the biggest distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) ever recorded.

The attack was took place between 17:21 and 17:30 and the famous control version portal received a net traffic with a peak load of 1.35Tbps. The attack origin was through 100,000 “memcached” servers, distributed memory cache systems used internally by companies.

GitHub was prepared with specifics countermeasures for this kind of events, making the attackers to give up in 8 min.
