Incident in Redsys service affects bank payment systems and Bizum

All Spanish banks reported on Saturday 18 November failures in card payment transactions both by dataphone, in the case of e-commerce, and in transfers via Bizum.

For a few hours, all digital payment methods stopped working in Spain, allowing only cash payments. Numerous users took to social networks to report different incidents, and it was then that several banks confirmed that their payment applications had stopped working, pointing to the Redsys platform as the source of the problem.

Hours after the incident, Redsys made public the solution to the problem, explaining that the failure was due to the platform's internal communication lines, ruling out an external attack.
