Lithuanian government faces cyberattack

Up to 22 websites belonging to the Lithuanian government have been compromised by a specially targeted and planned cyberattack, taking advantage of a security vulnerability in password management to log in to some web content management systems, as explained in the official statement published on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense.

The incident occurred on December 9 and lasted 4 hours. The attackers managed to access the websites, published and disseminated false news supplanting, among other public entities, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
