Many Dark Web pages removed by a cyber attack on Daniel's Hosting server

Daniel's Hosting, one of Dark Web's largest hosting service providers, suffered a cyberattack on November 15, 2018 that caused more than 6,500 websites to be deleted. The server's root account was also compromised and removed.

Daniel Winzen, the software developer behind the hosting service, reported on the portal itself that, according to his research, someone gained access to the database and deleted all accounts without the possibility of recovering them because, for design reasons, no backups were made.

During the course of the investigation, Winzen identified a zero-day PHP vulnerability, but discarded that it was the entry point of the attack. However, he promised to continue investigating.
