Microsoft dismantles Russian Strontium cyberattacks against Ukraine

Microsoft has successfully dismantled, according to its blog, a series of cyber attacks targeting Ukrainian entities by Strontium, a group of cybercriminals who have been attributed with a direct link to Russia's Central Intelligence Department (GRU).

A court order has authorised the company to take control over seven of the internet domains used by Strontium to carry out the cyberattacks, redirecting them to a Microsoft-controlled sinkhole, allowing them to mitigate the current use of these domains and enable victim notifications.
