More than 1,000 Intercontinental hotels hacked in the USA

The Intercontinental hotel chain has been victim of a cyber attack with the aim of stealing credit card data from customers.

The company has confirmed that the malware that infected its servers was aimed at obtaining stored data from bank credit cards: name, card number, expiration date and verification code. The affected cards correspond to customers staying between 29 September and 29 December at more than 1,000 hotels.

Intercontinental has not revealed the scope of the attack.
