Part of Ukraine without Internet after cyberattack

Ukrtelecom, Ukraine's national operator and main internet provider, has suffered a cyberattack. According to Netblocks, an organisation dedicated to monitoring internet access, there has been a serious disruption to network access.

The cyberattack has caused the company's connectivity usage to drop to 13% of the network activity it used to have before the conflict with Russia. It was a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack exploiting a vulnerability in the systems.

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) has stated that the attack was detected within 15 minutes and the company's specialists took immediate countermeasures. It also revealed that the companies Cisco, Microsoft and ISSP were involved in its repair.
