Ransomware blocks 70% of the Washington DC video surveillance system days before the investiture of Donald Trump

Local authorities of the US capital have reported a ransomware attack on the city's public spaces video surveillance network. The attack occurred between January 12 and 15 and affected the 70% of video recording systems. The city´s chief of technology area of Washington DC has confirmed that no payment was made to cybercriminals, due to the problem was remedied by restarting the systems after deleting the affected software.


Update 06/02/2017 : British police have confirmed the arrest on January 19 of two people in London related to this attack by ransomware, they would be an English man and Swedish woman , both aged 50
