Ransomware targets the Brazilian judicial system

The Superior Court of Justice (SCJ) from Brazil reported that its IT network was compromised by ransomware, affecting more than 1.200 servers, mostly virtual machines, and destroying their backups.

The incident occurred on 3th of November and led to the suspension of all ongoing and successive legal proceedings. On the other hand, all systems were disconnected from the network and judges and workers were advised not to use any personal computers.

The SCJ reported the incident to the Federal Police for investigation and the Secretariat of Information and Communication Technology is currently working to restore all systems.
