SCUF Gaming accidentally exposes customer data

The SCUF Gaming company, a subsidiary of Corsair Corporation, focused on manufacturing high-end gamepads and other peripherals for video games, publicly exposed the company's customer database for two days, during the start-up process of the infrastructure necessary to telework due to COVID-19.

The Comparitech security investigation team, led by Bob Diachenko, discovered the data, accessible on the web without any security measures, and immediately reported this occurrence to SCUF Gamming.

In the official statement, the company detailed that the database included the name of the customers, the email address, the shipping address, the billing address, the order history and, if applicable, the return history and repairs.
