Seiko confirms unauthorized access to its servers

Seiko Group Corporation, a Japanese company engaged in the production of semiconductors, SSD devices and watches, has stated that on July 28, 2023 it detected an unauthorized access to its servers and its data has been compromised.

BlackCat (ALPHV), a known cybercriminal group, has claimed responsibility for the incident and has posted samples of the stolen data on its website.

The company has stated that it will continue with the investigation to clarify what kind of information they accessed and extracted. In addition to apologizing to its customers and business partners, Seiko asked the latter to remain vigilant to avoid possible phishing attacks.
