Ticketmaster pays a fine to settle charges of computer intrusion and fraud

Ticketmaster LLC, a subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment Inc. and dedicated to the sale and distribution of event and concert tickets, has agreed with the United States Attorney's Office to pay a $10 million fine to resolve the computer intrusion and fraud charges against it.

Specifically, according to the Attorney General's statements, allegedly, Ticketmaster employees illegally and repeatedly accessed the computer systems of rival CrowdSurge, using passwords held by a former senior employee of CrowdSurge, in order to collect business intelligence information.

In addition to the fine, Ticketmaster must maintain a compliance and ethics program designed to prevent and detect violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and must report its compliance to the Attorney General's Office annually.
