TikTok application fined for collecting children’s data

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced an agreement with the TikTok application (formerly Musical.ly) to pay a $5.7 million fine for violating the Children's Privacy Act because the application allegedly collected information from children under 13 without parental consent.

In the future, children under the age of 13 who use the application will not be able to share their videos, comment on other people's videos, send messages to other users, have a profile or followers.
