Travelex suffers cyberattack by Sodinokibi ransomware

The British currency exchange agency Travelex was the victim of an attack by the Sodinokibi ransomware on December 31. The operators responsible for the ransomware have specified that they encrypted the entire company network, deleted backup files, and copied over 5GB of personal information, including full credit card numbers from the company's customers.

The company, which was forced to close 1,500 of its branches as a result of the cyberattack, received an initial notification from the attackers demanding payment to retrieve the information, which dropped to the equivalent of about 285 bitcoins.
