Cybersecurity Summer BootCamp

This Tuesday, 16 July, the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), part of the Ministry of Economy and Business through the Secretariat of State for Digital Advancement, together with the Organization of American States (OAS), will open the fourth edition of Cybersecurity Summer BootCamp.

It’s a landmark event for exclusive and top-of-the-line cybersecurity training designed for members of the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA), technicians from Incident Response Centers teams (CSIRTs) and professionals from the legal and financial sectors.
For two weeks, from 16 to 27 July, INCIBE will welcome 350 participants from 53 different countries.

They will have the opportunity to acquire and broaden their knowledge in cybersecurity, receiving training, in an eminently practical way, in the latest techniques in the fight against cybercrime, the management of cybersecurity incidents and the legislative aspects that must be taken into account when applying the necessary measures to counteract them. All of this through more than 600 hours, distributed throughout 72 workshops and 27 seminars. Coordination with all involved agents will also be encouraged through networking activities scheduled throughout these 15 days.

The main topics to be addressed are threat analysis and forensics, intelligence in cybersecurity, research in the cyberspace, cybercrime, technological research, electronic evidence management, police operations, cyberterrorism, criminal use of cryptocurrencies, and operational challenges in the protection of cloud services, among others.

Furthermore, around 90 professors and speakers will participate in technical workshops, seminars, expert talks and practical and collaborative cases lasting at least seven hours a day from Monday to Saturday. Everything will take place in different venues throughout the city of Leon, such as INCIBE or the University of Leon.

The event is promoted by INCIBE and the OAS within the collaborative framework between the Spanish Government, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAUEC) and said organisation, encouraging the attendance of participants from all over the world.

The Cybersecurity Summer BootCamp has the support of the MAUEC, the University of Leon, the Leon City Council, Santander Bank, Europol, Interpol, the United States State Department, Carnegie Mellon University, the Government of Canada and the Citi Foundation.

The initiative makes it possible to strengthen the ties of collaboration between Spain and the other countries, playing a role in positioning ourselves as a country of reference in matters of cybersecurity.

All of the information is available in the specific event section, via the INCIBE web page.
