Rafael Tesoro has a doctorate in mathematics from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has extensive experience in digital transformation of several sectors, having worked at various companies such as IBM and Sainsel Sistemas Navales.

Since 2013, he has worked in the institutions of the European Union promoting cybersecurity in the Union. His work focuses mainly on managing cybersecurity programmes and projects co-funded by the EU (e.g., Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, Digital Europe). He also contributes to implementing various policies that seek to build and reinforce European cybersecurity capabilities and technologies (e.g., the NIS directive). In particular, since 2019, he has supervised the EU’s pilot projects to establish a European network of cybersecurity competencies.

Edu Ortiz leads the Strategic Alliances at SAS. She has almost 30 years’ experience, mainly in the area of business consultancy and information systems. In recent years, her priorities have been developing solutions using Cybersecurity integrated with Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud and Digital Transformation. Edu has extensive experience in transformation, business development and alliance management in international and multicultural settings. She graduated in industrial engineering from PUCMM (Dom. Rep.) and holds a Master’s of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University with a Fulbright scholarship. Edu has participated in various executive programmes such as: the PDG (General Management Programme) at IESE, the Santander W50 programme at UCLA and the Promociona programme at ESADE. To support her passion for promoting women in the technology world, Edu leads the Madrid MeetUp for Women in Machine Learning & Data Science and she was a co-founder and is the chairperson of the board of the association Women4Cyber Spain, the national chapter of the Women4Cyber Foundation of the European Cyber Security Organization.

She has been a Councillor on Fabero City Council, a Regional Councillor in El Bierzo, an MP for the province of Leon in the VI and VII Legislatures 1996/2004, holding, among other posts, that of Member of the Budget Committee. She was the Secretary of State for Social Policy 2004-2009 at the Ministries of Employment and Education, where she piloted the implementation of the Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependant Persons Act. She was the Regional Representative of the Government in the Region of Madrid, from 2009 to 2011. She was a regional MP in the IX Legislature of the Madrid Assembly 2011-2015, having held, among other posts, that of 2nd Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Chairperson of the Budget Committee. She was the Director-General of Recruitment and Military Teaching at the Ministry of Defence, from 2018 to 2020. She currently holds the post of Undersecretary of State for Defence.

A journalist and communicator specialising in cybersecurity, technology and innovation.

Co-founder and director of Bit Life Media, a supplier of communication services and awareness-raising actions in computer security and technology (bitlifemedia.es), and a news outlet specialising in technology, cybersecurity and innovation (bitlifemedia.com).

A regular contributor in the news media as a cybersecurity awareness disseminator, moderator and professional presenter at conferences and events.

She won the of the “Cybersecurity Communicator” Prize given by the PETEC Association and second prize in the “1st Prize for Computer Security Journalists” from ESET. She is the author of the book “Cybersecurity: Tips to Lead Safer Digital Lives” (Editatum, 2018).

She is a contributor to the weekly radio programme “CiberAfterwork”, which is broadcast every Monday at 6.30 p.m. on Capital Radio, a space that has surpassed 100 programmes on the air and the winner of the “SIC Award for Raising Awareness of Cybersecurity”.

Marta is the Director-General of FECE, the Spanish Federation of Domestic Appliance Merchants and Chairperson of the Inspiring Girls Foundation, which coordinates in Spain, Europe and Latin America. She is a business lawyer and she has worked in the software sector for more than 30 years, as the Director of Legal Advice at multinational technology companies, and she has been a member of Management Boards and Boards of Directors. She was also responsible for investor relations and institutional relations.

She had earlier founded the consultancy Layomba, in Spain and Colombia, which is concerned in legal advice and business development in Latam, and she was Spain’s representative in the Bogota Free Economic Zone.

She has been very active in promoting equality of opportunity for professional women, she has chaired the Madrid branch of the international network Business Professional Women and later of International Business Women. She was also a founding partner of Women in Business (WoB), a consultant in leadership skills for women, and she was a mentor in various institutions, such as the Instituto de Empresa (IE).

As an expert on issues related to professional women and businesswomen, she has organised and participated in several forums and she has been a lecturer in the United States, Qatar, Korea etc. With WoB, she organised the first Latin American meeting of women executives in Colombia and various events in Turkey, the United States and China.

Currently, besides her work at FECE, she was a founder in Spain of the Inspiring Girls initiative, focused on increasing the professional ambitions of girls as well as their job expectations, especially in less feminised sectors, such as STEM.

Lorena Gil is a graduate in Computer Engineering from the University of Burgos, she has complemented her passion for technology and software development with a Master’s in Internet Business at ISDI, a Data Science Bootcamp at IE and another Master’s in ICT Advice and Consultancy at UBU. She began her career in the service sector working for the Burgos City Council and Caja de Burgos. In 2013, she joined ASTI Mobile Robotics, where she has worked in the Software Development department, designing new industrial software programs in cutting-edge programming languages, as well as transforming the team’s culture, changing from using cascade development methodologies to agile methodologies. Later, she held the post of Site Manager, coordinating AGVs (automatic guided vehicles) implementation projects at the customers’ plants, which gave her a 360º view of industrial projects. For the last four years, she has been working as head of the Digital Transformation area, leading and designing new projects concerned with IoT, Cloud, Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Maintenance, etc.... for both ASTI and its customers. One of the great challenges of this latest venture is not only to digitalise processes, but also to digitalise people.

A graduate in Business from the Autonomous University of Madrid. His field of activity has always been connected with new technologies and their commercial application, which led him to found, at the beginning of the 90s, the company Arache, S.L., which is concerned in remote sales. Later, he headed the Marketing and Communication Department of the Center for Cultural Interchange, in Madrid.

In 1997, he joined the Association of Employers and Industries of Spain (CEOE), as head of the SimproEspaña office , which is concerned with disseminating and developing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and e-commerce.

Later, he was appointed Head of the Digital Society and Innovation Area of CEOE, as head of the Secretariat of the Digital Society Commission, of the R+D Commission and of the Licences and Services Commission. The scope of action of these Commissions deals with aspects such as innovation, industrial and intellectual property, digital transformation, smart cities, data protection, industry 4.0., public assistance for R+D and the licensing system; among other things.

He is currently the Director of the Department of Digitalisation, Innovation, Trade and Infrastructure; of which the Digital Society Commissions are part; R+D; Competitiveness, Trade and Consumption; Infrastructure and Urban Planning; Licences; Transport and Logistics; and Intensive Specialist Services for People (the latter shared with the Department of Employment, Diversity and Social Protection).
