In this report we have described how Silicon Valley has managed to become a leader in the creation of start-ups worldwide. This success is due mainly to private investment, both in human capital and resources, and is the fruit of extensive experience and a long tradition in this area that spans nearly 100 years.

Although in Spain a similar investment from private sources does not seem viable at the moment, the new Science Law allows steps to be taken to stabilize the scientific-technical research staff situation and attract the private capital needed to create new start-ups. We have clearly seen how investment in technology companies that provide global services generates substantial wealth for a country and is a bright path towards the future. Malaga is the example of success in Spain, and this success can be transferred to other parts of the country by establishing technology hubs specialized in various aspects, all of which can generate new economic opportunities in the future.

The United States is the country with the most start-ups today. It boasts a significant number of dynamic creation hubs and support infrastructure across its territory, all of which contributes to its foundation and success. And, cybersecurity start-ups are no exception. According to a study of the 79 leading companies in this field today [2], 82% of them are in the United States. The most famous of these technology hubs is Silicon Valley, home to 60% of cybersecurity start-ups in the United States . This is a clear indication of the enormous importance of Silicon Valley as a hub for creation and entrepreneurship promotion in the US. Silicon Valley is the common name for the group of high-tech companies located in the United States, close to the San Francisco Bay Area. Silicon Valley is home, in fact, to 30 Fortune 1000 companies and thousands of start-ups. Some 33% of US venture capital is invested in these companies, and the technology sector employs half a million workers. Given the importance and size of this technology hub and the huge amount of start-ups located there, we will begin this article by examining the hub more closely. We shall analyze its origins, development and consolidation, and look at its current status. The second part of this article offers a detailed study of the cybersecurity start-ups considered to be the most important in 2022. This provides a more complete overview of their areas of interest and investment. The overall objective of this article is to extract information and conclusions that can be applied to similar initiatives intended for launch in Spain.

Silicon Valley is not the only hub for start-ups in the US. There are a number of other places in the US with a high concentration of start-ups, such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Diego. Figure 1 [4] indicates the location of every hub in 2022, limited to cybersecurity companies, our focus of interest in this article. Here we can also see that Silicon Valley is the largest center of activity of them all, which is why it is the focus of our attention.
