Cyberattack disrupts Jaguar Land Rover operations
On September 2, 2025, British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced serious disruptions to operations at factories and dealerships. The cyberattack forced the company to shut down some of its systems, leading to the closure of its factories in the United Kingdom, China, Slovakia, and India, and workers were instructed to stay home. The cybercriminal group Scattered Spider has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Days later, on September 10, JLR revealed in a statement posted on its website that the cyberattack had also resulted in a data breach. The company says it has already notified the authorities about the breach and will contact anyone whose data has been compromised.
On September 16, 2025, JLR announced that it was extending the closure of its manufacturing facilities until the 24th, as it is still working on investigating the incident and restoring the systems affected by the cyberattack.
So far, Jaguar Land Rover has not yet shared any information about the type of data that may have been stolen by the cybercriminals.
